DogGone Productions

Lights, camera, action . . . HOME !

The original "star" of
DogGone Productions
was

a 10 year old redtick coonhound
named CLEO.
Vocal, energetic, with a nose for work,

hounds like Cleo don't easily find
their forever homes,
especially in urban areas.

Cleo's struggle to find her match
inspired one of the volunteers at

the Nebraska Humane Society
to try her hand at video production
in hope that it would
"capture hearts"

- Cleo's & that of a potential family -
"for HOME."
The rest is history.
Thanks to Cleo,

aka The Grand Dame,
numerous NHS dogs found their homes
with the help of a

DogGone Production.
The credit truly belongs to Cleo.

Capturing Hearts . . . for Home

DogGone Productions: For Dog Sake . . .

HOW  WE  STARTED
Cleo shared the plight of other
hard-to-place dogs: seniors; bully breeds; dogs with medical or behavioral challenges; young, high-spirited dogs in need of training; pairs needing to be adopted together.
Inspired by Cleo's long wait for a home, a group of volunteers at the
Nebraska Humane Society added "adoption advocacy" initiatives to their volunteer duties: video & poster production, Facebook postings, "field trips" to stores & events in hope of meeting potential adopters.

WHAT WE DO
The DGP  mission is expressed in its slogan "Capturing Hearts . . .  for Home."

We produce videos for shelter/rescue dogs having difficulty finding their forever homes due to their special needs (e.g., age, medical condition, breed,     high-spiritedness, energy & smarts)
or due to specific adoption requirements (no children, only dog, no cats, 6 foot fence required).

Each DGP video seeks to capture the heart and "dogality" of its "star" in hopes of capturing that matching heart: the person or family who can provide what the dog needs in a forever home.

The DogGone Productions "Pack"

Thea
Sue
Woody
Stressbuster-in-Chief
Named after the best friend in Toy Story, Woody was a fearful pup at the Humane Society when Sue was asked to work with him on his confidence.  She was charmed by this little guy, who soon taught her a lasting lesson: one way to build a fearful dog's trust in a human is by play. Tossing a ball in his kennel was the way to Woody's heart - and Sue's. She adopted him a few weeks later.
Founder, Videographer
Video Editor

    Thanks to the "founding"
     need of her buddy Cleo,
Sue learned how to create video "portraits" of
hard-to-place dogs . . . like smart, spunky Spencer (left). "Capturing hearts . . .  for home" has been a joyous learning experience.  But
Sue's #1 joy: coming home to her beloved "pack,"
Thea & Woody.

Production Support
A wire-haired pointing griffon (Flatbrooks Kennel), Thea (from the Greek feminine noun for the Divine) truly embodies her AKC name: Flatbrooks Faithful Divine Theatrics (surely a name
to live up to!)
During production, Thea is never far from Sue's side, wisely reminding when it is time for a break -
and a treat.

When he hears a siren in the neighborhood, Woody "sings the blues." Check it out at right.
Thea is a water dog, so she was
intrigued by the new addition
to our house.

Purposes of the Website
ADOPTION ADOCACY (Omaha area)
Because dogs have been domesticated, they are dependent on us humans to provide for their needs. Do you know a shelter/rescue dog who is having a hard time finding a forever home ? If so, feel free to contact us to discuss whether the dog might benefit from a DogGone video boost.

VIDEO ARCHIVE
From time to time adopters of our DogGone "stars" send requests for links to the videos that "captured their hearts" for the dog that they adopted. Volunteers who cared for these dogs, many of whom resided at the shelter for months, have also urged that links to the videos be made available, so they can see their pals again. In response to these requests, this website includes a video archive of links to past DogGone productions.
